Catalyst US15W D2 SteppingIntel has released a new revision of the SCH US15W System Controller Hub (SCH). The SCH lies at the heart of the Catalyst module and other Eurotech Intel Atom products.This change has the following impact:- Some operating system builds may require one or more new drivers- Some operating systems will detect a change in US15W revision as new hardware.Identifying the SteppingRevision D of the Catalyst Module features the D2 stepping of the US15W, while revision B modules use the D1. The difference between module revisions is easy to spot: Rev B modules use green soldermask, while rev D modules are blue.On single-board products like the Proteus, you can identify the SCH US15W stepping by the markings on the chip itself (ref):Step D1: SLB4UStep D2: SLGFQ Operating System ChangesThere are two ways this change affects the operating system:New Driver RequiredSome OS builds may not include the drivers necessary to support the updated chipset. Contact us if you need updated drivers if you are (1) replacing a rev B with rev D module or (2) need to update your BSP with the driver for the OS you are building.OS Detects New Hardware when Module UpgradedIf you booted an operating system with a US15W-D1 module, but then replace that module with a US15W-D2 module, the installed operating system may detect the D2 module as new hardware. Depending on the operating system and version loaded, you may need to take additional steps.
