In fact, alphabetizing folders in the Favorites Bar in Edge was one of the reasons users refused to switch to Edge.Fortunately, Microsoft resolved this issue with the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Now, Edge automatically sorts the content of the Favorites Bar. This ended the wave of complaints that were invading Microsoft’s forums ever since the browser was first launched.Many users also criticized Microsoft for not having fixed this issue earlier, suggesting that adding the option to sort the Favorites Bar in an alphabetical order was a very easy task and that the company shouldn’t have waited until the launch of the Anniversary Update to make this feature available.Although users will be happu to hear the news, some users criticize Microsoft further still for not having spread the information to all users:It’s a pity MS didn’t feel it was necessary to tell the millions of MS Edge users they have fixed it. Perhaps because that would mean admitting there was a problem in the first place.As stated before, alphabetizing Favorites in Edge is only supported by the Anniversary Update. All the other versions of Windows 10 don’t support sorting. This means that if you want to use the sorting feature in Edge, you need to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 version 1607.The bad news is that the free upgrade offer has expired on July 29 and because of that, you’ll need to shell out $119 if you want to purchase this OS. I am trying to do a massive organization over here. one tool i am using is a third party renaming tool for files (not sure if i can mention the name with the new regime) but it's fantastic.it allows for prepending, suffixes, replacement and also of course various types of chronological naming. for instance i can choose what value i start with etcetera.does anyone have any experience with renaming in Photos? can you explain what you use and how you use it? can you supply any hood links on how to use the tool(s)?i'm not looking for some kind of google search list but looking for actual practical experience.THANKS Posted on Jul 29, 2023 9:18 AM Posted on Jul 29, 2023 9:49 AM I use Photos Workbench from Houdah Software ($29). It's evolving, and the company is responsive to suggestions and questions. It works with the System Library, so I have to switch the system back and forth for different libraries, but that's hardly their fault. In Photos, for an album, I choose favorites, and sort those. I use filters a lot! Then I sort the rest of the pictures to match the favorites. Then I use Photos Workbench to set titles with date first, like "06 06 25 - 001 - Isle of Skye" I usually reset the counter with each new day, since the date will take care of the alphabetizing-- and sometimes a multi-way event will have over 1000 pictures. Sometimes I don't reset for a new day, when there are not so many pictures. As I work on them I may find a picture from a later time that I want earlier in the set, so I'll change from "- 123 -" to "- 123b -" in Photos to nudge them around a bit, and then I re-title with Workbench.I tend to mess up a lot, so the search and replace feature of the title function is very useful.
