The R9 is one of the lower priced rifles that Beeman sells, but there is a lot of bang for the buck. If you compare the R9 s performance with other Beeman/Wheirach rifles, the R9 is very much a magnum performer.

Beeman - Experience with the beeman r9 for hunting?

Was shooting some of my .177 guns the other day and it just seemed hard to hold that little pellet after putting countless .22 pellets thourgh my 22XX guns. Beeman says that they're different from other companies like they're safetys, sear, ect but I don't know anything about Weihrauch company. What power is it in .22?I really want the Beeman R1 but I don't have 500.00 laying around. Also, say I do have a problem with the HW rifle, who would I send it to? If the Beeman broke for some reason, all I do is send it to Beeman to fix it. I want something that will last. NewYorkRifleMana really great shooting rifle. I got a Weirauch HW97K in .22 and never had any problems. I also had it tuned, so it shoots at about 16 ft/lbs. and is very smooth. They are great rifles, and with the .22 it is better suited for hunting. Plus .177 caliber R9's are easier to find, and R9 with a .22 caliber is something special, and to convert a .177 or .20 to .22 you have to buy a new barrel and have it installed, which could cost you about $100. NewYorkRifleManget repairs done if you order a Beeman, though I have heard that Tim at Mac1 has a close relationship with Weirauch, so he may handle warrenty work for them. Otherwise buy whichever you like. I personally don't like .22 in modest powered guns like the R9, as someone else here said. An R9 in .22 shooting CPs will put out about 650 fps, which makes for a petty loopy trajectory. By contrast, in .177 it will shoot well over 800 fps.Personally, I like the new extended forestock version of the R9 and I am not sure that the Weirauch version comes with that stock.. You might want to check on that before you buy. The new stock is very, very nice.Charter memberNoisy Bridge Rod and Gun Clubget the gun in .22Nov 23, 2005#52005-11-23T15:39+00:00I had the same opinion about easier handeling .22 pelletsNov 23, 2005#62005-11-23T15:56+00:00they're the same as so I'm told. NewYorkRifleManI did most of my shooting at first with .22 and then when I got some .177, they seemed almost imposible to pick up, grip, and load. But after I got used to them it became no problem. After a while, the .22s seem like monsters when I'm used to fooling with the .177s There is no doubt the bigger ones are easier to handle, but I think after a while, you would get used to the .177s like I did. Benefits of .177: cheaper pellets by a long shot, flatter trajectory requires less holdover/under at various ranges. Advantage in

I am one of those oddballs who can enjoy a .22 HW45 doing 420fps (14.5gr) or a .22 Crosman Mk1, .22 Cr 2289, .22 HW30S(R7), .22 Diana 24, or any other .22 caliber shooting 400-500fps (14.5gr). It never seems bad to buy quality. So, am now thinking a Beeman R 7 might be a great quality "starter" rifle. Light weight, would be handy. Any feedback on the Beeman? Thanks! Not real powerful so if you are looking to shoot critters you may want to bump up to the R9. But for a back yard/basement plinker, they just don't get any better. Be sure to get it in .177 that keeps the velocity of standard weight pellets in the 650fps range. It will have plenty of power for small birds, etc and can be used for bigger stuff if you keep the ranges reasonable and make head shots.Different pellets can make a difference as shown in this pic. I agree with centershots assesment, he puts a hurtin' on larger critters with his R9. Another sound choice IMO would be the HW50S by Weihrauch, same people that make the Beeman R7 & R9. It is a small bump up in power, between the R9 and R7, with the same Rekord trigger and is a very smooth shooter. I bought mine in .22 and it does a good job on the ground squirrels.Charter MemberAncient order of the 1895 Winchester"It's an insecure and petite man who demands all others like what he likes and dislike what he dislikes." szihnJoined: Sep 2009Posts: 3,535Likes:

Field target due to smaller diameter has better chance of gettng through the kill zone hole. Fine for small game/pests at the velocities you're looking at if you ever needed to do pest control. Benefits of .22: easier to handle, more satisfying "thwack" sound due to the larger pellet. A better hunting pellet if you get them going fast enough. My 2 cents on it, but honestly I bet you will be very happy and enjoy whichever one you choose. It probably will not be your last one, so you can always pick up the other caliber when you buy your next one.Have fun,Jon .22 HW95Nov 23, 2005#72005-11-23T16:53+00:00they're the same as so I'm told. NewYorkRifleManIt sounds like your preference is .22 caliber so the HW95 might be a better choice for you. The Weihrauch dealer where I buy from gives a one year warranty and this should be standard. I feel that most problems will surface within a year, if you do any amount of shooting. Beeman's warranty is not a reason why I would buy from them. I have heard several examples of them not honouring the papers. A friend of mine had a new RX-2 go bad and they offered to send him a new one for $500USd but he paid $510USd for the one that broke (around 2002). Other examples have been posted here before. If you ever need HW95 seals, springs, washers, barrels, trigger, safety, etc... you can order "R9" parts from Beeman and use them. Same thing. Weihrauch importers/dealers usually have parts too. The Beeman has different engraving on the receiver tube. Apparently the "R9" has a new stock design but possibly the newest HW95 models could have it too. I have not seen any yet or spoke to HW dealers about them. The Weihrauch web site shows the longer stock for the HW95 Luxus model so that would be your choice in .22 caliber if the slightly longer stock was an issue. ... _index.htmSome shooters are very concerned about velocity and hence prefer .177 caliber in most airguns. The .22 HW95 should be on par with the .22 BSA SS and .22 Diana 34/36/38 models.
