Regarding the sound. #14 I'm (ignorantly!) confident the differences are small if you simply use IIR filters to cut peaks below ~300Hz. But FIR correction has much broader capabilities.Perhaps we can convince @digitalfrost to detail his correction process? The DRC-FIR results I've seen at DIYAudio are very impressive - and the configurations a little intimidating. #15 I had just installed Equalizer APO with the frontend Peace Equalizer. Seems to work quite well. #16 I'm (ignorantly!) confident the differences are small if you simply use IIR filters to cut peaks below ~300Hz. Did try to use REW but i can't get my measuring mic working correctly with REW. With Mathaudio it worked instantly an so far i'm quite happy/impressed with the result. But alway's looking for improvements thats the reason for my quetsion if the differences are such that it is worthwille to try out other Room EQ software. If the differences are neglectible than i don't bother. Thread Starter #17 What is your opinion regarding mathaudio (i suppose Mathaudio room EQ) versus other roomcorrection software like REW (if you ever used that). Are those room correction software so different from eachother regarding the sound. Mathaudio has it's quirks. Unless it has changed all sweeps had to be to 20k. Be careful

And it’s FREE! A bit clunky interface and looks like last year’s model, but I’m always happy that such alternatives exist. #6 A bit clunky interface and looks like last year’s model Which is why the FREE Peace GUI exists. #7 Heard of that one, but hadn’t really tried it yet. #9 Math Audio Peq, versatile, option to save profiles. Free download as component for foobar. #10 If you're happy with DirectSound (versus ASIO/WASAPI), you can use EQ APO globally. Note that its config files support if/then/else, so you can choose rePhase IRs by samplerate automatically. The native filters are IIR & seem to work well. I use Eq APO globally with DRC-FIR. It's amazing. #11 Oh yeah, Equalizer APO is excellent as well... and it’s FREE! A bit clunky interface... OTOH, plain-text config files make that a reasonable compromise. Thread Starter #12 I have tried Mathaudio, and completely forgot about it. I knew there was a windows EQ APO, but did not know it's capabilities. EasyQ is probably the best of the VST plugins, but I had too many crashes. #13 I have tried Mathaudio, and completely forgot about it. Installer. If you use the x32 version of your VST host, use the x32 version of the Headphone EQ installer. If you use the x64 version of your VST host, use the x64 version of the Headphone EQ installer.2. Open and adjust your VST host program (Reaper, Cubase, Nuendo, Foobar2000, etc)If you want to use the Headphone EQ VST plug-in with Foobar2000 media player, use it together with the George Yong's VST wrapper.3. Set minimum buffer lengthSet minimum buffer size in the audio driver settings. Too large buffer size can slow down the reaction of the plug-in to the movement of its sliders. If you use Foobar2000, set the buffer length of 50 mS in the Preferences-Playback-Output dialog.4. Include the Headphone EQ VST plug-in as a last plug-in to the stereo signal pathOpen the editor of the plug-in. You will get the window shown in Fig.1. Play music and make sure that the audio signal comes through the plug-in.Fig.1. Screenshot of the MathAudio Headphone EQ VST plug-in.5. Click the "Sweep" radio buttonThe "Sweep" radio button activates the test signal generator. Please note that some VST hosts don't activate VST effect pug-ins when the input signal is absent. If you don't hear the sound of the test signal generator, activate the playback of any music in your VST host program. You will hear the sound of the test signal generator instead of the music. If you use Foobar2000 audio player, you also need to play a music file to hear the sound of the test signal generator.6. Find the first resonance frequencyMake sure that your headphones are in their usual comfortable position on your head. Slowly move the "Sweep" slider and listen to the intensity of the test sound. The unwanted resonances are most frequently located in the frequency interval from 5 to 10 kHz. Usually the resonance peaks are not wide. Your ability to hear the unwanted resonances depends of the volume of the test sound. Use the "Sweep signal volume" slider to find the optimum volume. Start from a relatively silent test sound and increase the volume until you will hear the resonance. The green line indicates the current frequency of the test signal generator. You can click the green line and move it instead of the slider. Find the central frequency of the first resonance peak and leave the green line in that position as it is shown in Fig.2.Fig.2. The green line shows the first found resonance frequency (the resonance frequency of your headphones can be different).7. Tune the first filter to the frequency of the first resonanceMake sure that the first radio button is selected in the left bottom corner of the plug-in window. This radio button corresponds to the first plug-in filter. The frequency of that filter is shown by the white vertical line on the plot. Click the "Set filter frequency" button. The white line will move to the location of the green line.Fig.3. The white line shows the frequency of the chosen filter.8.

About levels as you might blow your tweeters. Recently they now allow a user supplied house curve. It's a bit of a mystery as to what it is doing. Try it and see what happens, being careful about the level. #18 Mathaudio has it's quirks. Unless it has changed all sweeps had to be to 20k. Be careful about levels as you might blow your tweeters. Yes this levels i have some times problems with not so much with the sweep level (i put them quite low for the best result max 9 o'clock) but with crancking up the listning level. Sometimes i have to put my level to 2 o'clock or more. An if you forget to pull it back after closing Foobar2000 your speakers could be damaged. I'm beta testing for mathaudio and some months ago i (probably others too) did a request (to Sergey think one of the developers) to add these curves. Listning to these target curves i ended up with the existing Bright curve as my favorit.
