You might be able to get away with using a 10/100 mbps switch if you are sending a lower resolution and frame rate, but you might be pushing it. A gigabit network will allow you to send multiple NDI streams simultaneously without loss of quality. Gigabit ethernet switches are pretty cheap nowadays. I use a $15 Netgear 4 Port Gigabit Switch and it works fine. If you are using the OBS to OBS method then both instances of OBS need to be version 21.1 or higher. Install OBS on both the gaming PC and streaming PC. Streamlabs OBS will also work. If using the NewTek Tools method, then any broadcasting software should work fine and only needs to be installed on the Streaming PC.OBS to OBS methodThere are pros and cons to both methods. The OBS to OBS method has the benefit of being able to use window or game capture on the Gaming PC. This way, if the game crashes, your viewers are spared from seeing a view of your unorganized Gaming PC desktop, which can be an issue with capture cards too – since they capture everything on the Gaming PC. With OBS you can pick a specific window or program to capture; if the game crashes, then the viewers will see what you want them to see. I have a graphic on a layer under my game capture so if my game closes they see the graphic instead of black. This method is also easier to set up and get working than the NewTek Tools method. The downside is that this method has slightly more latency and uses slightly more bandwidth and CPU usage than the NewTek Tools method. This method only works with OBS. Open Broadcaster Software or OBS in short is a free-to-use open-source program for video recording and live streaming which you can use on both Windows and Mac. It has been one of the favorite broadcasting software for Youtubers and content creators since its release for its extraordinary features. With OBS Studio, you can screen record with audio, Livestream events, do podcasts, etc. Some users of OBS are complaining that they are seeing stuttering issues on OBS while recording. In this guide, we show you a few ways to fix OBS recording stuttering issues on Windows 11/10.If there is an encoding lag on your PC you will witness stuttering issues on OBS while recording. Your PC needs to process every frame in the quality you set as fast as it is recording. If it does not happen that way, you will see stuttering issues.Fix OBS recording stuttering issues on Windows 11/10If OBS recording freezes every few seconds and the recording lags, but the game doesn’t, here’s how to fix the OBS recording stuttering issue:Check minimum system requirementsLower the Frame RateRun OBS as an administratorTweak OBS recording settingsChange process priority to High on OBSClose other programs while recording on OBSUpdate Graphics driversLet’s get into the details of each method and fix the issue.1] Check minimum system requirementsMake sure your PC meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements set by the developers of OBS to run it smoothly. If they do not meet them, you need to upgrade your PC to use OBS.The Installer will then ask you if you would like to install the NewTek NDI Runtime. If it doesn’t give you this option then you can download it directly from the same github page as the plugin installer under Install instructions. Install the NDI Runtime. Now reboot your computer. Remember, you need to install the OBS plugin and the NewTek NDI runtime on both the gaming and streaming PC.NDI OBS to OBS Method: Gaming PC setupSetting up the gaming PC to send an NDI stream is really easy. Open OBS on the gaming PC and click on Tools / NDI Output settings. The NDI output settings window will pop up. Click Main output and name the Main output something that makes sense to you. You can leave Preview output unchecked unless you want to send a separate NDI feed of your OBS preview. That’s it for the Gaming PC. Whatever you have on your main output will be sent over NDI. We will get into some advanced features later that makes streaming multiple scenes simultaneously easy, but for now this is fine. IMPORTANT:If you need to change your video settings in OBS on the Gaming PC, then you need to uncheck Main Output in the NDI Output Settings window before you can make changes. For example, if you want to send 60fps to the Streaming PC instead of 30fps or if you want to send 1280×720 resolution instead of 1920×1080 you have to first disable NDI on the gaming PC. The NDI stream from the Gaming PC will send video at whatever settings you have setup in OBS. After you make any changes to your video settings you need to re-check Main Output in the NDI Output settings Tool window to enable the NDI stream. NDI OBS to OBS Method: Streaming PC SetupCreate a new scene and name it Gaming PC or whatever makes sense to you. Add a source by clicking on the + button under Sources and choose NDIPlugin.NDISourceName.Choose Create new and name it something like “Gaming PC NDI Source” or whatever makes sense to you. The properties window for the NDI source will pop up. Under NDIPlugin.SourceProps.SourceName there will be a drop-down menu with your Gaming PC’s name followed by the NDI source you named earlier in the NDI Output settings on the Gaming PC. You can leave the other settings alone. After choosing your NDI stream press OK.That’s it. If you did everything correctly you should be receiving video from the instance of OBS on the gaming PC.You will also notice a new item in the audio mixer in OBS on the streaming PC. It will be called whatever your Gaming PC’s name is followed by the NDI

OBS Studio - OBS-Studio: Send an UDP Stream to a second PC

#1 Hello everyone. So last 2 weeks I had problems, stream just stopped streaming like no internet, NDI Source stopped, sometimes webcam also stopped for a bit and after maybee 30 seconds all good back. So I removed OBS Studio, Streamelements LIVE plugin, NDI plugin. I removed residues in appdata, etc., restarted PC, reinstalled back all three, restart PC and open, configure from scratch just to test NDI signal from gaming laptop and I saw, that OBS is using only about 30MB/s (Task manager) on laptop. Tried sending from PC to Laptop, all good smooth and above 100MB/s. Installed XSplit on laptop for test only for NDI, it works like a charm to PC (arround 140MB/s). So I did same reinstall process as on PC before, again same. Tried without NVENC, no joy. When it is only green color as background in scene on OBS laptop, it uses about 6MB/s of network, with game arround 30MB/s.So in few words... before reinstalling on PC, NDI from OBS laptop to PC was in normall range of 140MB/s, while after reinstall on PC, only arround 30MB/s no matter what I do.Laptop LOG: Windows 10 x64, OBS Studio 23.2.1 (64-bit), Laptop ASUS ROG G752VL, Graphic Nvidia gtx 965M, ... Source starts, but that's all.Beyond that you've got an extremely large number of scenes and sources, including browser sources, that make the logfile difficult to read and hard to narrow down the potential sources of problems. It may be useful to create a fresh, blank profile and scene collection troubleshoot with a single active capture source. This might resolve your issue, but even if it doesnt, it will result in cleaner logs that are easier to troubleshoot with. #6 Okay, I will remove everything and install only OBS and NDI on both computers, on blank profiles I will use only window capture on laptop and on PC NDI Source. As soon I have this, I will post it here. Thanks #8 Okay I figured out, when it started lagging. Today I restored Windows partition from few months ago, NDI works great, I upgraded Windows 10 to version 1903 and bam, again laggy NDI. So something from the update is messing with it, but what?UPDATE: On same laptop, from OBS to Xsplit (for test) it worked normally, and when sending out is not good, what the hell is limiting the speed?UPDATE2: OBS ndi from laptop to XSplit on desktop PC works like a charm, so OBS to OBS is not working for some reason. Last edited: Sep 19, 2019 #9 I have been using OBS NDI plugin to send video from laptop to desktop computer. It was working great until it didn't. Sudently after upgrading NDI OBS plugin, Video and audio became laggy a lot (sending 1920x1080p, 60FPS at only arround 30Mb/s instead previously 140Mb/s).What I have tried and still laggy: - NDI Scan Converter from laptop to desktop PC with OBS Studio - OBS Studio from laptop to desktop PC with OBS Studio - I went over your documentation with
