Editions are available for many courses as well as the Oxford Grammar Course. Co nowego We’ve fixed some bugs and made some improvements to keep everything working well. Oceny i recenzje A useful tool for teachers and learners, but… I’ve been using this bookshelf app since it was launched back in 2014/2015. It’s been really helpful ever since and the service introduces more and more features every several months. Unfortunately, it’s got a number of disadvantages too, the biggest of which is the fact that it lacks such essential features like highlighting, searching a particular word or phrase or note taking using a pen or pencil. Although all books are sold as ebooks, they’re actually scans/pictures of printed books. That is why all the previously mentioned features are not available—you can’t select text to highlight it, or look up its meaning. If you want to find a word or phrase in an entire book (200 pages), it will jump to a page where the word is, but you will have to find the word on your own on that page as it’s not highlighted—really time consuming. The pencil tool doesn’t work smoothly and is too bold to take notes which is really inconvenient in most books where there is are no text fields to complete the gaps. The menu is often overlapped by notes in a split view which really frustrates me. Despite all the disadvantages, listening to audio recordings and watching videos embedded within books save time in class and work really fine. Last but not least, the app is only available for iPads. Reviews ‘When I started using the Oxford 3000 with my students… I wasn’t sure how students would respond to these activities. I found that they seem to like the routine and recognise the value of working with the Oxford 3000 word list.’ Bjorn Candel, EFL teacher In the dictionary On this website, the words are listed alphabetically. You can browse the words, search for a word, filter the list, and download them. The CEFR level is shown beside each word, and you can hear the word pronounced in either British or American English. Every definition in the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary is written using words from the Oxford 3000, making it easier for users of these lists to look up and understand the definitions. #3 Greetings,I am a high school pupil from Singapore. It depends on the learner. For example, the Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries often list British words and put American ones as variants. Merriam-Webster does the opposite. Therefore, if you favour British English, then go for the first two options. I think that they are the best for British English leaners. I cannot say for American English learners, but I often find Oxford American Dictionary installed in my MacBook Air useful enough in most situations.Cheerio,Pham Duc Minh Anh Last edited: Sep 22, 2011 #4 I personally find that a sentence dictionary works best when trying to fully understand the meanings and definitions of words. Dictionaries tell you what the word means, but they don't show you HOW to use them. Plus, the meanings in an advanced learner's dictionary are confusing and do little to build my vocabulary.I'd check out Words In A Sentence - Defining Words With Sentences and see if they have your vocab words yet. It currently only has a few hundred words in sentences, but they're adding more to the site each day.The site is very helpful and will certainly be a godsent for anyone who wants to learn complex vocabulary words. Tdol No Longer With Us (RIP) #6 Use OneLook.com and search hundreds of dictionaries and glossaries with a single click.Oxford Learner's Bookshelf - WebCatalog

About In The War with Hannibal, Livy chronicles the events of the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage, until the Battle of Zama in 202 BC. He vividly recreates the immense armies of Hannibal, complete with elephants, crossing the Alps; the panic as they approached the gates of Rome; and the decimation of the Roman army at the Battle of Lake Trasimene. Yet it is also the clash of personalities that fascinates Livy, from great debates in the Senate to the historic meeting between Scipio and Hannibal before the decisive battle. Livy never hesitates to introduce both intense drama and moral lessons into his work, and here he brings a turbulent episode in history powerfully to life. For more than seventy years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators.
