The Next Sufferfest Event Sufferfest

With the current Sufferfest offer (6 weeks for free), I decided to give it a try. The first step is taking the 4DP test, which has been discussed on this forum before. The test yields five numbers and “categorizes” you as a rider. The five numbers are: 1) Neuromuscular Power (based on 5 second power); 2) Anaerobic Capacity (based on 1 minute power); 3) Maximum Aerobic Power (based on 5 minute power); 4) FTP (based on 20 minute power); and 5) Lactate Threshold (unclear what it is based on). The category it assigns you seems to be based on which of these numbers are higher and/or lower than the Sufferfest algorithm would predict based on FTP (that is just my guess). It labelled me a “Pursuiter,” as my 5 minute power seemed to be higher than expected. To me, what that really means is I have weaknesses at the others, and I should be looking to strengthen those. But I guess it’s all a matter of perspective.I’m not near as versed in cycling numbers as others on here. But I have taken the TR ramp test and I have also gone into a lab to get VO2 Max and Lactate Threshold numbers. My FTP numbers between the Sufferfest and TR differ by 1 watt. That’s it.My Lactate Threshold numbers between the Sufferfest and the lab differ by 12 bpms (the Sufferfest did not give a corresponding wattage). That seems significant. For those of you considering taking the test, I will say that it was quite difficult / exhausting, and that is even with getting off the bike for short periods twice during the test (as recommended). It is a 1 hour test. The 5 minute and 20 minute efforts left me feeling like I couldn’t go any more and had my HR at its “max.” As a less experienced rider, I did have some trouble pacing the 20 minute test. I had never tried to hold a max 20 minute effort before. The shorter efforts were peak efforts but did not completely exhaust me.The test was also the first time I used “slope”

Or “level” mode on my trainer. With TR, I’ve always just ridden in Erg mode. For me, it was an interesting difference. It required a lot more engagement. Finally, with TR, I generally have a TV show on while riding. The Sufferfest provides a video and music while you ride, as well as the traditional TR power view of the ride. It was a different experience. I can’t say whether it was better or worse, yet. But for those struggling to decide what music to listen to or what to watch, the Sufferfest solves that problem.I’d be interested to hear other people’s results compared to TR and/or other tests. Also, I hope this “review” may help people thinking about checking out the Sufferfest. Will Love the 4DP. It’s a great way to make sure that you’re getting a good variety of short duration tests in your testing protocols. I just redid mine after having done it first back in February. Went from Attacker to Climber (guess dropping four pounds made a difference). Same strengths and weaknesses: MAP is the weakness, 1 min is the strength.I don’t use that many different suferfest workouts–just a couple that i like–but i use 4DP as my benchmark test and i think i’ll probably continue to do so.You mention above that Sufferfest didn’t give you a corresponding wattage for your LTHR, but it does, no? Isn’t it the 20 min power result, i.e. your FTP? Or am i misunderstanding your point. Did the 4DP couple of years ago.Got my FTP pretty accurate (as accurate as FTP can be) vs FTP derived from TT race. They got everything else dead wrong, from ‘rider type’ to ‘weakness’.Glad I’ve never actually paid for their product. I used SF for a year before switching to TR, and used 4DP right after it came out. Outcome of that test for me was high anaerobic contribution, with high ability to repeat big efforts, but low corresponding FTP. For me that was spot on, and I still think that basing training targets off that test is a superior way to train. With TR, I always

You can watch Netflix while you’re cycling, I can finally say, “Yes!” The Bowflex VeloCore allows you to download and watch the Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix apps right to your gleaming monitor (with the purchase of the JRNY interactive programming). This is not something you can do with the Peloton Bike+. I think its earns a 5 out of 5 for programming. The JRNY platform underwhelmed me with the music selection. I do like that you can completely turn off the music if you’d like to just zone out and follow along with the instructor. The cost per month is $19.99, so pretty reasonable in the grand scheme of things. Although this bike is technically compatible with the Peloton app, I’m disappointed that you aren’t able to view it on the monitor. You’ll have to use your phone or other devices, which is a pain considering there is a 22” screen right in front of you. We still felt this bike deserved a 5 out of 5 rating for technology. Depending on the app, the bike tracks things like power, speed, RPM, distance, and heart rate. That said, the metrics can sometimes differ from app to app so there may be some inconsistencies in your ride history. It earns 4 out of 5 stars from us for dynamic programming. The reason this bike is so affordable relative to the Peloton is that it doesn’t have a built-in monitor; instead, you’ll have to supply your own smart device to stream the above-mentioned apps. The good news is that the IC4 has a device holder for your iPad or smartphone. We appreciate all of the conveniences and rated it 4 out of 5 for those. For the price, this exercise bike is extremely sturdy, and we were pleased that there was little to no shaking, even when riding out of the saddle. This is especially impressive considering the IC4 only weighs 104 pounds, and 40 pounds of that is the hefty. Where is The Sufferfest headquartered? The Sufferfest is headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Filter workouts by zones, TSS, etc.Another feature of this update is that you can play the structured workouts on the AR routes.ROUVY also added structured training plans for beginners, which I missed in the previous version. Thumbs up!To improve your PRs, you can leverage virtual partners in the TT mode. These virtual partners (avatars) are either the times of others who have done the same route or your previous PR.User Friendliness: Not to My TasteThe ROUVY app seemed outdated before the major redesign in 2023. Unfortunately, I still don’t like it after the redesign. I am not a fan of the dark purple, and the whole design doesn’t look consistent. But the longer I watch ROUVY, the more I appreciate their work and how they are improving. For example, the revamped dashboard and entire navigation is much better now.ROUVY dashboardPreviously, I had issues understanding certain features, but the current version seems much easier to understand. They also have a new rider’s portal.ROUVY online portalThe information displayed while riding is clear and easy to understand. In settings, you can also make it bigger to improve its readability.Platforms AvailabilityROUVY is available on all major platforms, including iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Apple TV. ROUVY platform availabilityI’ve been using ROUVY on macOS. During my original testing, I encountered some issues, but the latest versions work fine and are stable.ROUVY AlternativesThe closest ROUVY alternatives are:Zwift – unlike ROUVY, Zwift uses a virtual world built from scratch. It doesn’t have a route library that is as comprehensive as ROUVY. It is much closer to being a game than ROUVY. You can learn more in my Zwift vs. ROUVY comparison.MyWhoosh – Like Zwift, MyWhoosh features a virtual world. Check out my comparison of ROUVY vs. MyWhoosh for details.FulGaz – is the most similar app to ROUVY. It also uses real-world footage of routes worldwide. The main difference is that FulGaz doesn’t use augmented reality. This means there are no avatars or artificial objects.TrainerRoad – is focused purely on making you a better cyclist—no distractions – only structured training plans. Learn more in my ROUVY vs. TrainerRoad comparison.Wahoo SYSTM – displays your ride data with pre-recorded footage. It is a universal app not only for cyclists but also for other endurance athletes. We truly appreciate your feedback! We're always looking to improve the features within to amplify our users experience. I will be sure to pass this along to our app development team! Our C6 bike has many other apps to sync with during those workouts. Those apps are: Peloton, Zwift, Explore the World, Strava, Sufferfest, Rouvy, FulGaz, Tacx, TrainerRoad, Under Armor Record, MyFitnessPal, Google Fit, and Apple Health. We hope this helps and please feel free to reach out to our customer care team for any other questions! You can reach them Monday-Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM PST at (800) 605-3369. Thank you! --Bowflex Team Needs apple watch version I was happy to find something that was reported to sync data from my Nautilus U618 upright stationary bike to the Apple health app. Having recently purchased an Apple Watch series 7, I wanted all my data to sync up correctly. After trying this out though, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t sync calories burned with Apple fitness. I’ve had to manually enter the results from this app into my activity in Apple health- BUT it STILL doesn’t recognize this for my fitness scores/ rings. It will only automatically sync the time worked out.I also don’t feel a necessity to utilize the virtual tours, but this seems to be the only way to use this app.The app also records the bikes incorrect and constant maximum heart rate, versus my real heart rate ( which I can see on my watch ) - the U618’s heart rate sensors have always read that I’m working out at my maximum heart rate whenever I grab them - since I bought the machine a few years ago- I always knew those readings were always wrong. Maybe there should be better integration with the Apple Watch? I’ve tried other indoor cycling apps and they at least report and sync with Health, although I feel they fall very short on what should realistically be calories burned. Not able to sync to Apple Health - no support Information for this app indicates it will sync with Apple Health. But,
